One Island, Two beaches

Cayo Ensenachos boasts 2 pristine beaches of paradise with powder white sand and crystal clear blue waters.  Playa Megano located to the east side of the island and Play Ensenachos located on the west side of the island.  Both have several palapas and lounge chairs.  Staff is at your command to prep, clean off and set up a lounge chair at the available palapa you want.  During the day bar staff walk the length of the palapa areas serving guests a drink of their choosing.  All you have to do is apply your sun screen, lay back and enjoy the relaxation or take a refreshing dip in the calm ocean's salt water.  Bring along your snorkeling gear and a water proof camera as there are several fish to see including if you are lucky a Barracuda or two.  Beware though that they are attracted to shiny objects, so it is advisable not to wear too much jewelry or have too much bling on your bathing suit.

  • Playa Megano is just over 1 km long and has a sunken barge just off the east side.  At low tide you can walk out the barge.  Several fish find home at this barge and is a great snorkeling spot.  This beach is the busier of the two beaches and houses the beach grill and bar, volleyball, Hobbie Cats where the guys will take you out on a ride which is included in the all-inclusive activities, and daily games with the Star Friends

  • Playa Ensenachos is the longer and quieter beach of the two and is approximately 1.5 kms long.  There is a beach bar located on the east side for all guests and bar staff walk the length of the beach where the palapas are offering drinks.  On the far west side the palapas, beach grill and bar are exclusive to the Grand Village guests only.

Nautical Sport's Center:  Located between both Megano and Ensenachos beaches is the sports center where you may take out non-motorized water sport equipment such as peddle boats and kayaks.

Snorkeling:

  • From the Beach:  On Playa Megano you can find fish hanging out at the sunken barge located on the east side  as well as around the rocky coral area on the west side.  At the nautical sport's center which is between both beaches you will find fish around the rock and coral area.  On Playa Ensenachos good snorkeling spots can be found on the east side along the rock area, on the west end at the Grand Village as well as off the boat dock area located in the Grand Village on the south side.

  • The Reef and Mangroves:  There is also a reef area out from Megano beach that is only accessible with water craft as it is too far to swim out to.  Beautiful corals and fish can be seen here.  In the mangroves area of the Buenavista Bay you will spot Sting Rays.  It is not advisable to swim in the "channel" area that separates Cayo Ensenachos with Cayo Santa Maria due to its current.  However the Hobbie Cat guys will be more than happy to bring you out to see the sting rays and star fish.
